Credit (Course) Exemption for Undergraduate Programs
Courses in the Departments of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) and Computer & Information Science (CIS) are mutually recognized if the courses have the same title or content.

Transfer students from five-year junior colleges may not apply for course exemption based on professional courses from their first, second and third years of study. In general, transfer students are discouraged from applying for course exemption from core courses in the sophomore or junior years based on courses from the fourth and fifth years at junior colleges.

To apply for exemption from Calculus (8 credits), students who have completed 6 credits of Calculus courses elsewhere should include a math course in their application to meet the credit requirements (please use Form 4).

Transfer students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering may not apply for course exemption from Introduction to Computer Science (3 credits) as the course offered by their former department is a 2-credit course. Students must therefore, repeat the course.

Students who want to apply for exemption from Introduction to Computer Science or repeat a similar course offer by other departments must obtain prior approval from Professor Wen-Nung Tsai.

Study Regulations from CSIE state that students may take 5 courses from other departments, but preferably from the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)(please use Form 2).

New Study Regulations from the Department of Computer Science (CS) on "Other Elective Credits" are as follows:

Of the elective credits, half or more of should be for important professional courses offered by the Colleges of Computer Science (CS), Science, and Engineering; the remaining credits can be for important professional courses from other departments

(Remarks: All elective courses offered by other departments and institutions must be approved by the Director of the CS Department) (please use Form 3).

Remarks: New Regulations from the CS Department on "Other Elective Credits" for different programs:
